Day 1

The flights all went really well, I even had wifi for my long layover in anchorage. Flying into anchorage I was told to look out for the glaciers.
Thanks to my awesome dad I had a first class window seat to see them from! I had an overwhelming urge to go sledding down them. But i have a feeling they aren't as "smooth" as they look from the airplane, so it's probably a good idea i wasn't on the ground to act on those urges.
On my flight from Anchorage to Nome I sat next to a really family with an adorable 2 year old son. They were so nice and it turned out they were teachers in White Mountain. (one of the places I might be sent to). When we flew into Nome it was windy and rainy and about 8:45 pm-alaska time (did i mention that I had to wake up at 3:30-houston time-to make my first flight at 6am?). Needless to say I was pretty tired. I got all my bags and waited...and waited...and called the number I had been given if the lady who was supposed to pick me up forgot...and waited...and called again...and waited some more...and called again. Everytime I called I got the answering machine...which didn't make me feel all that great. I had not been told where I was supposed to be staying or how to get there incase no one showed up. As 10:00pm Ak time approached the airport staff were starting to close down the airport. The family from white mountain had offered to take me to the hospital, but at the time they left I was still sure that the lady would show up to pick me up. WEll no. never happened. The airport staff was so nice and they took me to the hospital, but as we were pulling out the family from White mountain were pulling in to check if I had gotten a ride. I have never met nicer people.
